Specific 1920s Hairstyles
Right now the 1920′s are having a bit of a renaissance with TV shows like Broadwalk Empire and a remake of the Great Gatsby due in the cinema next year. What’s more the decade has been huge on both the autumn/winter 2011-12 catwalks and the spring/summer 2012.
If there is one perfect way of getting the look it is with a sexy new hair style. The 1920s was a huge period of reinvention in both the USA and UK and when it came to hairstyles a lot of them caused controversy because they were nothing like the styles that had gone before. So how can you get that 1920′s look?
Bob
One key look of the 1920s had to be the bob made famous by actresses like Louise Brooks. The look was sleek and chic and uber-straight and is easily achieved at home, all you need is a limited edition Scarlet styler which has the same smooth plates as the ghd Gold hair straighteners and so will get straight and sleek hair.
Finger waves
A lot of women took the straight sleek bob and made it look more feminine by putting finger waves in their hair. The look screams the Great Gatsby and is also reminiscent of one of the looks worn by Katy Perry in the recent ad for GHD limited edition Scarlet stylers.
Eton crop
This is a more extreme version of the bob where women cut their hair into a pixie crop and spiked it up with cream or wax. For a modern take on the look you can use your ghds to create texture and movement before adding product.
Long curls
If a short bob isn’t your style you can still get a 1920s style, you just have to look at Katy Perry’s flapper style hair in the latest ghd advert. You can utilise the finger waves of the shorter bob style, you just need to use your ghd hair straighteners which have rounded barrels so can create waves with ease.
